Mistress of Blanchland School

Villagers and visitors

Looking at various records shows that generations of the same families lived and worked in and around Blanchland for centuries.

Even today, many people still living in Blanchland have their ancestral roots firmly fixed in its ancient stones, and surnames like Forster, Makepeace, Morpeth and Murray still abound in the area. Many more families have moved on, but still feel strong bonds with the village, returning again and again to visit familiar places. And then there are those who have only ever been visitors, but nevertheless Blanchland has claimed a special place in their hearts.

This section tells the stories of some of the people who have lived in the village - and some of those who have loved it.
